Much like oranges, hard-boiled eggs usually require way more work to peel than they do to eat. (Hey, we just want to have our snack and get on with it.) But great news: We just found a solution to your shell-peeling woes. All you need is an ingredient you probably already have in your kitchen.

Step 1: Place the uncooked eggs in a pot and add 1 tablespoon baking soda.

Step 2: Pour cool water over the top of the eggs so that it covers them by about one inch.

Step 3: Bring the water to a full rolling boil, then turn off the heat, cover the pot and let the eggs sit for ten to 12 minutes.

Step 4: Switch the eggs to a bowl of cool water to stop the cooking process. 

When you’re ready to eat, just grab an egg and peel. Easy, huh?
